A Spectacular Christmas Tree Festival

Updated: Dec 19

From Joyce Duncan, President of the St Andrews-Loches Alliance

This Christmas Holy Trinity Church is the setting for a spectacular forest of Christmas trees. This will be the second such festival to be held in the church and we hope it will be bigger and even better that the last, held two years ago. Pop in and see for yourself! The church will be decorated with trees sponsored by local schools, businesses, shops and organisations who have all decorated them in their own style, creating a magical fairyland of trees.

During the ten days of the festival there will be a programme of Christmas events including concerts, talks and a craft workshop for children. Refreshments will also be available.

After minimal expenses have been met, a third of the remaining income will be assigned to the Holy Trinity Trust, which exists to secure a sustainable future for one of St Andrews’ most iconic buildings and two thirds donated to TCCL, the Tayside and North East Fife Charity for Children with Cancer and Leukaemia. The charity owns a holiday home in St Andrews which is available free of charge to families who are affected by childhood cancer and leukaemia.  It has been providing quality support to these local families since their founding in 1994.

During the period of the festival the church will be open 14th to 24th December, as far as possible every afternoon from 1pm-5pm. Some concerts will be taking place during that time, but the church will still be open. We welcome you to come in, immerse yourself in the wonderland of Christmas trees, enjoy the events and support our chosen charity. Admission is free with donations welcome.

If you or your organisation would like to sponsor a festival Christmas tree, please contact Mr Callum MacLeod on 07969 333 944 or email callummac@aol.com

Business or institutional sponsorship is  £100, schools pay £75 and individuals or families £50. There will also be a Memory Tree on which for a small donation you can leave a name or a message.

This year the festival is being organised by the St Andrews-Loches Alliance, our local twinning association whose aims are to establish, develop and support educational, cultural and sporting links between the Royal Burgh of St Andrews and our twin town of Loches- en-Touraine in France.
